• Swedish PM Stefan Löfven formally resigned yesterday, opening the door for Sweden’s Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson to become the country's first female head of state. Behind the scenes: Löfven, who has led Sweden since 2014 as head of the Social Democrat party, announced in August his intention to step down. Andersson, who took over from Löfven as leader of the Social Democrats last week, is likely to get the first chance to form government.
